Bird News Thursday 30th December

10 Waxwings were in flight along the Shore Road near Rathcoole and an Intermedius type Lesser Black Backed Gull was at Whitehouse Lagoon. (Stuart McKee)
A female Blackcap was in a garden in Ballycastle. (P Ewart).
Greyabbey: this morning 4 Pink-footed Geese and 1 Greenland white-front with greylags on field between
Greyabbey and Mount Stewart. No sign of any snow goose this morning. 1 little egret at Ann's point.
Kircubbin: little egret at marsh by Maxol. Portaferry: 1 Sandwich tern at marina. Ballyquintin: 7 woodcock. Cloughey: 1 little egret at beach pool.
Kirkistown: 500 golden plover. Millin bay: 4 yellowhammer and a stock dove on fields just S of bay. Greyabbey bay: 7 Slavonian grebe. (Keith Bennett)
Also the White Chaffinch still 2 Blackcaps in a private garden in Hillsborough (Jeff Higgott)
A single Twite at Ballyhornan village - only 1 Skylark at Killard, no sign of finches; single sandwich tern at Mill Quarter Bay - also a lone stonechat near Kilclief. (Dermot Hughes)
Yesterday 2 Brambling at the beech trees in Cargan, and 15 Crossbill in the southern part of Glenariff forest near Dungonnell Dam (Dermot Hughes)
