Bird News Monday 20th October 2025

The Rough-legged Buzzard is still on Rathlin this morning (Stuart McKee). It is worth noting that some consider this bird to be more likely a Rough-legged Hawk.

A Black Tern and an Arctic Tern were at Kinnego Bay, Oxford Island (Ed O’Hara)

A Bean Goose and a Pink-footed Goose were with Greylags at East Town, Tory (Davy Hunter)

A Great White Egret was seen at the Quoile (Kevin Kirkham / Chris Murphy)

Seven Pink-feet were with Whoopers in the fields off the A6, Toome (David Steele)

A flock of seven Taiga Bean Geese were at Inch, Co Donegal (Derek Brennan)

A Snow Bunting was on the top of Divis mountain (Stuart Cossey)

A Siberian Chiffchaff was at Runkerry this afternoon (Matthew Tickner)

Lough Beg had a single Pectoral Sandpiper, Slavonian Grebe and a Curlew Sandpiper (David Steele)
