Bird News Friday 3rd April 2026

The drake Harlequin Duck was still at Magheroarty Pier, Donegal (Chris Ingram / Anton Meenan)  The bird was still present at 12:45.

Two Great Egret were still at Portmore RSPB (Chris Hamilton)

A drake Ring-necked Duck was off the Tready Hide, Inch (Derek Brennan)

The Lesser Yellowlegs was still on Rathlin (Ric Else)

An adult Bonaparte’s Gull off Blackhead path near Port Davey. 3 Common Scoter were also present. (Garry Wilkinson)

The Black Redstart and 2 Purple Sandpiper were at Whitehead (Garry Wilkinson)

27 Ruff were on the meadows at Church Island, Lough Beg (David Steele)
