Bird News Sunday 14th October

The Curlew Sandpiper was still at Bann estuary (Keith Bennett)

Circa1000 Whooper Swan were on fields at Ballykelly (Keith Bennett)

3 Slavonian Grebes and one Great Northern Diver were south of Greyabbey Bay this morning. An adult Med Gull was at Orlock this pm (James Robinson)

A Merlin was at Ramore Head and the Barnacle Goose was still at Portballintrae and a Swallow at Lisnagunogue near Bushmills (Richard Donaghey/Lowell Mills).

On the 12th 12 House Martin were at Crossgar.

Tory Island had a good run of birds today with Richards Pipit, Barred Warbler, Redstart, Pied Fly and 20 Brambling (Paul Kelly, Jim Dowdall & Tom Shevlin). A Pectoral Sandpiper was also at Derrybeg, Co Donegal (Davy Hunter)
