Bird News Saturday 11th January

The Siberian Chiffchaff was still at Rockport School, Holywood, Down. It is on the path adjacent to the stream leading down to the coastal path east of Rockport School (Keith Bennett)

The Spoonbill was seen flying past Island Hill. (Adam Middleton)

The Ivory Gull is on show this morning at the east end car park, Tacumshin, Co Wexford.

2 Great Northern Diver, 6 Gannet and 5 Red-breasted Mergansers were fishing at the mouth of the River Bann by Castlerock, 32 Wigeon were also present. The flock of 15+ Twite were still at the entrance to Portstewart Strand. (John Loughlin & Irene Miller).

40 - 50 Fieldfare were with Jackdaws, Starlings and Rooks at Ballycraigy Road, Glengormley. (Jim McKeown).

An American Wigeon was at Culdaff Estuary, Inishowen in Donegal. (Michael McLaughlin).

The drake American Wigeon was at Reedy Flats, Lough Neagh again as well as a Merlin, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, about 50 Linnets, 15 Tree Sparrows, 30 Black-tailed Godwits, and about 2500 Golden Plover and Lapwings. (James O'Neill).

3 Great Northern Divers were in Cushendun Bay. (Colin Guy).

A male smew, 2 barnacle geese and the barnacle x snow goose hybrid and were at Inch, Donegal today (Brad Robson).

4 Bewick Swans were at the Quoile Pondage. (Danny Baillie).
