Bird News Sunday 13th March

The adult and second summer Med Gulls were still present at RSPB WOW Reserve, Belfast. (Stuart McKee / Kevin Kirkham-Brown). Also an adult Ring-billed Gull was also present (Stuart McKee)

In excellent conditions on the east side of Strangford Lough an exceptional count of 88 Slavonian Grebe (84 between Greyabbey and Kircubbin and 4 at Newtownards Sailing Club). Also 9 Black-throated Diver (6 south of Gransha Point and 3 at Newtownards Sailing Club), 18 Great Northern Diver (6 at Kircubbin, 5 south of Gransha Point and 7 at Marlfield) and 3 Red-throated Diver at Kircubbin. A Red Kite flew over Moira Roundabout at 12.20 (Nigel Moore)

A total of 26 Whooper Swans were seen on Rathlin including a group of 21 flying over. (Colin Guy) Also seen was 2 Choughs, 1 Gadwall,and 1 Woodcock (Ivan Quail)

The Greenland White-front, a Sandwich Tern, Black-tailed Godwit and 2 summer plumage Red-throated Divers were off Glynn Station today. (Neal Warnock)
