Bird News Wednesday 13th April

The first Corncrake of the year on Tory Island is calling this morning, Co Donegal (Anton Meenan).

A Corncrake has also been reported from Rathlin and the first Puffins have now returned. (Tom McDonnell/Kevin Kirkham)

A Siberian Chiffchaff was behind the Discovery Centre at Oxford Island this morning, a White Wagtail was also present. (Ed O'Hara).

Common Sandpipers are now returning including one this morning at Castle Espie. (Jonathan Clarke).

The two Little Gulls are still at Lough Mourne, Carrickfergus, two adult summer plumaged Mediterranean Gulls and a Common Sandpiper were also present.  (Stuart McKee)

A Common Tern, 5 Mediterranean Gulls and a Ruff were at RSPB WoW (Gerard McGeehan).

Three Ruff and a male and female Wheatear were along the shore in the center of Reedy Flats on the south shore of Lough Neagh, another Wheatear was in a ploughed field nearby. (Clifford Sharpe).

Two female type Wheatear and five Willow Warblers were at Ballyquintin Point. Two Whimbrel and a White Wagtail were at Kearney (Bob Watts).

A female Redstart is in Corrog Wood outside Portaferry. (Billy Miskelly).The bird was present to 5.30 at least. (Bob Watts).

An immature White-tailed Eagle, probably the bird seen recently over Moyraverty, flew over Charlestown Road from the River Bann towards Lough Neagh. (Clifford Sharpe).

Two Twite were below the clubhouse at Castlerock Golf Club this evening. (John Spottiswood).

Glennasheever Mountain, Garrison, Co. Fermanagh today had 1 Red Grouse, 1 Jack Snipe, 4 Common Snipe and 3 Swallow. (Godfrey McRoberts).
