Bird News Sunday 5th November

The drake Ring-necked Duck was back at the Quoile (Wilton Farrelly)

5 Ruff were feeding along the shoreline at Cloughey (Philip West)

The west end of Rathlin this morning had one Crossbill, one Chiffchaff, one Greenland White-fronted Goose flying south and one Barnacle Goose. Also Whooper Swans were heard flying overhead during the night. (Ric Else and Hazel Watson)

Two Dark-bellied Brent Geese were at the Floodgates, Newtownards (Wilton Farrelly)

The Twite flock were still at Sandy Bay, Larne and two Crossbill were at Capanagh (Linda Thompson)

A late Chiffchaff was at Kearney and 140+ Whoopers were in nearby fields (Garry Armstrong)

A female Hen Harrier was at Portmore Lough (Gerard McGeehan)

The two Snow Bunting’s were seen again at Ramore Head (Michael Latham)

A high count of 37 Little Egrets were feeding at Dundrum Inner Bay North (Clive Mellon)

The Nuthatch has been looked for a number of times in the last few days without success.
