Bird News Saturday 2nd January

A presumed drake boreallis Eider was at Hazelbank, Belfast Lough. Also present were 2 Slavonian Grebe and 2 Great Northern Diver (Wilton Farrelly / Garry Armstrong)

The Ring-billed Gull was at Belfast Aaterworks (Billy Miskelly). Also present was the first winter Iceland Gull (Michael Latham). Both birds were still present at 2:30pm (Kevin Kirkham)

The drake Bufflehead was still at the Quoile (Tony Donaldson / Stuart McKee)

The Great White Egret, Marsh Harrier and a Peregrine were at Portmore Lough RSPB (Kevin Kirkham)

The Red-necked Grebe was seen again at Macedon Point at 1pm (David Stirling)

2 x 1w Iceland Gull & 1 x 1w Glaucous Gull were at Clay Lake, Keady, Co. Armagh (Clifford Sharpe)

Yesterday 3 Sandwich Tern were at Killyleagh (David Miller)

A male Black Redstart was at Greencastle, Co Down (Paul Mathers)

A Barn Owl was seen at Bishopscourt (David Stirling)

A Carrion Crow was at Glynn (David Gillespie)

A Goosander and Slavonian Grebe were at Glynn this morning. The Black Redstart was at Ballylumford this afternoon. There are now 6 Twite at Sandy Bay, Larne. (Neal Warnock)
