Bird News Wednesday 12th March

At Larne Lough 2 adult Mediterranean Gull, 4 Greenshank, 108 Pale-bellied Brent, 5 Bar-tailed Godwit and 3 Little Egret were at Glynn (Cameron Moore).
Last night a Barn Owl was calling at Larchfield Estate near Hillsborough (Garry Wilkinson)

Some 300 Whooper Swans were at Inch levels, feeding mostly in the fields adjacent to the lake (Christine Cunningham)

Newry canal south of Scarva had 2 calling Water Rails (Fulton Somerville)

A large immature Peregrine, probably a female, was being mobbed by the breeding lesser black backed gulls at the MBC beside the City Hospital today at 2.00. (Chris Shaw)

A 1st winter Little Gull was feeding offshore at Briggs Rocks today (Colin Guy)

Yesterday 2 Glossy Ibis flew across the main road just north of New Buildings on the road to Strabane. A 1st winter Iceland Gull was at Portnoo beach, Donegal and 80 Barnacle Flew overhead also yesterday. Another 40 Barnacle Geese flew over Dunfanaghy today (Colin Guy)

A Jack Snipe was on the Lower Lough Erne islands RSPB reserve, Co Fermanagh today (Brad Robson)
