Bird News Wednesday 2nd January

The Hoopoe was seen again today, feeding in a garden in Donaghmore village, Co Tyrone.

The Black Redstart and 9 Twite were still at Whitehead (Daniel Newton) Later in the day, up to 15 Twite were recorded (Ed O'Hara and Paul Mulvenna / Niall Mulvenna)

An Iceland Gull and a Glaucous Gull, along with a presumed Glaucous \ Herring Gull hybrid were at Enniskillen Dump. A high count of 8 Little Egrets were on Lower Lough Erne (Brad Robson)

A possible male Northern Bullfinch was at Kinnego Hide, Oxford Island (Peter Phillips)

7 Twite were at Larne (Ed O'Hara)

A Peregrine was at Islandhill, Strangford Lough (Harry Byron)

A Greater Scaup was on Ushet Lough Rathlin today and a Twite was in Church Bay (Ric Else / Hazel Watson)

Yesterday a Peregrine was at Castle Espie, 1000+ Golden Plover were at the Floodgates. A female Long-tailed Duck was on the Quoile, about 200m from the old coal quay looking downstream towards Castle Island Road/Collectors Bay (Derek Polley / David Miller)

A female Brambling was in a garden in Hillsborough (Garry Wilkinson)
