Bird News Thursday 15th September

Late news from Tuesday is of a Buff Breasted Sandpiper at Myroe Levels, possibly the same bird that was seen there last Saturday. (Anne-Marie McDevitt/Claire Barnett).

2 Curlew Sandpiper, 2 Ruff and at least 500 Oystercatcher were at Belfast Lough RSPB Reserve. (Andy Elliott).

2 Whinchat were along Glenhead Road at Glenwherry, Co, Antrim. (Jeff Larkin).

A Peregrine was along the shore at Ballyhalbert. (Guy Hamilton).

Seabird numbers were well down at Copeland Bird Observatory butt 100 Gannet, 100 Kittiwake, 50 Sandwich Tern, 2 Arctic Skua and 2 Great Northern Diver were noted. On the island at least 20 Chiffchaff were present (11 of them were ringed), as well as a Garden Warbler and 2 Blackcap. (Neville McKee).

In Donegal the Bairds Sandpiper and 2 Curlew Sandpiper were still present at Carrigart.
