Bird News Tuesday 5th November.

At Larne Lough the male Goosander was at Ballycarry Bridge and a Common Scoter, Great Northern Diver and a Red-throated Diver near Mill Bay (Cameron Moore).

4 Jay, 30 Goldfinch, a Purple Sandpiper, 15/16 Redshank, 30/40 Turnstone and 15/16 Curlew were at Camphill Community at Glencraig (Warren Rainey)

A male Hen Harrier was at Ballyquintin Point.(Ian Enlander)

Yesterday, from Island Hill car park, Strangford Lough: 188 Whooper Swans, 2,500 Shelduck, 500 Eider, 200 R-b Mergansers, 2 Slavonian Grebes, 50 Great Crested Grebes, 6 Litte Egrets and 20 Black-tailed Godwits. (8 Greenland White-fronted Geese were with the Whoopers on 25 October). The American Golden Plover was looked for amongst the 350 Golden Plover at Kirkistown without success.(Chris Murphy)
