Bird News Saturday 29th November

A first winter drake Ring-necked Duck is in the first sludge tank (with Tufties) at Kinnegar Shore (Wilton Farrelly)

Three Sandwich Terns were on rocks at Sandeel Bay, Co Down, this afternoon.  A bat was flying at 2:00pmat Portavoe Reservoir. (Ron Price)

A female Long-tailed Duck and 5 Red-throated Divers were of Macedon Point, Belfast Lough. (Wilton Farrelly).

 The hybrid Ring-billed Gull was at Millisle and a Sandwich tern at Ballyferris. Yesterday the 2 Slavonian Grebe, 6 Great Northern Diver and a Jack Snipe were all at Horse Island. Greyabbey Bay had 3 Black-throated Diver. (Richard Weyl).

A walk from Seahill to Holywood produced 3 Long-tailed Duck and a male Goldeneye. (Derel Polley).

There was a small flock of Tree Sparrows in the field beside the main NT car park at Murlough. (Angus Kennedy).

A fem/imm Black Redstart was at Briggs Rocks near Groomsport (Stephen McCandless).  

A Greenshank, 2 Little Egret and 100 Knot were at Whitehouse Lagoon in Belfast (Gerard McGeehan).  

2 pair of Long-tailed Duck were off Fisherman's Pier in Carrickfergus, 12 Snipe and a Red-throated Diver at Glynn In Larne Lough and a Grey Plover and Red-throated Diver at Sandy Bay in Larne (Joe Lamont).

Tyrella to Ballykinler had 55 Greenfinch, 6 Stonechat, 1 Red Kite, 1 Merlin, 1 Kestrel, 2 Raven, 5 Great Northern Diver, 3 Grey Plover, 340 Sanderling, 600 Dunlin, 20 Ringed Plover, 2000+ Golden Plover, 100 Knot, 200 Oystercatcher, 50 Redshank, 30 Twite, and 1 bat. Minerstown beach had an adult Mediterranean Gull. (Tim & Chris Murphy).

Approximately 100 Twite were at Ramore Head today – one bird had a green colour ring. (Colin Guy).
