Bird News Tuesday 16th December

The Newry Canal from Poyntzpass to Scarva produced 1 Raven, 10 Mistle Thrush, 70+ Redwing, 3 Fieldfare, 12 Tree Sparrow, 13 Lont-tailed Tit, 1 sighting and 3 calling Water Rail. Also a partial leucistic Blackbird. (Fulton Somerville).

The first-winter Iceland Gull was at Sandy Bay in Larne and 7 Little Egret and 3 Greenshank at 40 Acre Bay (Joe Lamont).   

In south Down a juvenile Great Northern Diver, adult Mediterranean Gull and 2 Red-breasted Merganser were at Killough Harbour. Yesterday 380 Lapwing, a Stonechat, 5 Greenshank, a Great Northern Diver, Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Little Egret and a Water Rail were at Killough/Strand Lough (Tim Murphy).
