Bird News Saturday 4th November

The female Goosander was still at Dundrum Inner Bay south, see picture below. (Angus Kennedy).

Two female Hen Harriers were seen over the reeds at RSPB Portmore Lough this morning being mobbed by Hooded Crows. (Robin Brown).

A probable juvenile Hen Harrier was gliding over fields between Aghalee and Broadwater at 10 o'clock this morning. (Dougie Gamble).

2 Snow Buntings were at Ramore Head, Portrush this afternoon. (Chris & James Rankin).

At Castle Espie on a rising tide this morning there were 100+ Whooper Swans in the Comber River, 14 Grey Plover off Montgomery hide, 250 + Black-tailed Godwits roosting on the salt marsh upstream from the hide and 40 Eiders offshore. Good numbers of Curlew, Dunlin, Shelduck, Brent, Redshank and Wigeon were also present. (Derek Polley).
