Bird News Tuesday 3rd May

A summer plumaged Spotted Redshank was on the western shoreline of Lough Beg this evening, also a total 0f 180 Whimbrel migrating through, 3 Garganey(2male/1 fem) were seen again.(David Steele)

A Red Kite was seen on the Dromore Road just outside Ballynahinch(Gregory Heaney)

North Down coastal path today had a Wheatear along the path/rocks. 2 Purple Sandpipers at Carnalea. 8 Turnstone on seaweed at Smelt Mill Bay.(Derek Polley)

Three Parakeet in the Waterworks. Not sure if one is a newly arrived young, but doesn't seem to have the longer tail of the adults (Ricky McQuillan)

7 Whimbrel at Bartins Bay, Lough Neagh at lunchtime today. Also the Glossy Ibis at Portmore late morning.(Richard Caves)
