Bird News Saturday 19th March

2 Black-Throated Diver, 4 Great Northern Diver were at Monaghan Bank, Strangford Lough, 20 Slavonian Grebe were at Greyabbey, 2 Little Egret, 8 Pintail, 3 Greenshank, 20 Black-Tailed Godwit were at Anne's Point, 1 Little Egret was at Ballyreagh near Newtownards,3 Sandwich Tern were at the marina in Portavogie, also 2Purple Sandpiper here, 20+ Tree Sparrow at the farm at Ballyquintin, also a female Merlin, 5+ Stock Dove and the Ring Necked Duck were at Ballyherly Lough. A Wheatear and a Chiffchaff were at Killard. (Craig Nash)

8 Waxwing, a singing Chiffchaff and a singing Treecreeper were at PeatlandsPark (Stephen Hewitt, Paul Burrows, John and Gillian Faulkner).

A Merlin at Burial Island. Single Little Egrets were at Anne's Point and Drumfad. On Thursday a LE Owl was calling at Portavo Reservoir (Richard Weyl).

1 Waxwing was still at Derrymacash in Lurgan. (Ed O'Hara)
