Bird News Thursday 9th January

The drake Ring-necked Duck was still at Castle Ward today (Stuart McQueen)

The Siberian Chiffchaff was still showing along the coastal path at Rockport School, Co Down (Birdguides)

A first-winter Iceland Gull, was at Kilkeel, Co. Down. (David Knight)

A 1st winter Glaucous Gull was at East Strand Car Park Portrush (Colin Guy)

A Sandwich Tern was at the Netwalk in Killyleagh (Spencer and Joan Marshall)

450 Whooper Swans, 245 Pale-bellied Brent Geese, 3000 Golden Plover, 500 Lapwing and 5 Little Egrets were in the Myroe/Ballykelly area. Also the Bann Estuary held 90 Sanderling. (Hill Dick/Peter Robinson)

4 Purple Sandpiper were at Ballywalter this afternoon (David McCormick)
