Bird News Tuesday 18th October

The two Great White Egrets were still at Ballycarry Bridge in Larne Lough this morning. (Ian Dickey).

A female Hen Harrier was at Ballyutoag Road, Belfast Hills. (Dave Allen)

The Spotted Redshank was still at Ballycarry (Shirley Dunlop)

This afternoon a ringtail Hen Harrier flew over Ballinacor outside Lurgan heading towards Lough Neagh. (Ed O'Hara).

A Peregrine was seen along the Carricknadarriff Road, Hillsborough (Garry Wilkinson)

35 Slavonian Grebe, 20 Red-throated Diver and a very high count of 82 Little Egret were on Lough Foyle. Also seen were 3 Twite, a Med Gull and a Merlin. The American Golden Plover was still present at Myroe. (Matthew Tickner)

Rathlin Island had their first Fieldfares and White-fronted Geese of the autumn, plus a dozen Redwings, 3 Blackcaps, 20 Twite along the beach, and most unusually nearly 300 Jackdaws (Ric Else / Hazel Watson)
