Bird News 8th January

The Snow Goose was still south of Anns Point, Co Down along with 4 Pink-footed Geese. (Joe Allen)
25 - 30 Waxwings were still at Waterfoot, Co. Antrim. Also, 11 Whooper swans were off the sea there in Red Bay (Pauline Majury)
The first winter male Ring-necked Duck was still at Lough Cowey and a Sandwich Tern at Cloghy Bay Co. Down (Richard Weyl).
The Ring-billed x Common Gull hybrid was at Millisle.
A Goosander was at Cushendun (Keith Bennett)
30 Brambling were still at Richill, Co Armagh (Andrew Poots)
5 male and 5 female Gadwall were on one of the small ponds at Roselawn Cemetery in Belfast - they have been there most of the week (David Clarke).
A female Blackcap was in a garden in Stranmillis in Belfast (Ian Mitchell).
