Bird News for Friday 12th August

A Common Sandpiper, Ruff, 2 Greenshank, 15 newly arrived Knot (7 summer adult and 8 juvenile), 50 Swift and a Water Rail were at Belfast Lough RSPB. Yesterday 2 Ruff were there (Stuart McKee). The harbour estate reserve starting to look interesting well worth keeping a check on it over the next lot of weeks, maybe a nice american wader popping in, certainly is the time when they start appearing.

Along the Outer Ards a Great Skua, Whimbrel, RT Diver and Common Scoter were at Burial Island. On Wednesday 4 Reed Warbler were still at Ballyherly Lough (Richard Weyl).

One of the 8 Storm Petrel's ringed at Portstewart last evening by John Clarke and team, when you see how small they look in hand it is just incredible that these little birds can face some of the roughest sea's in the world.

The Blog would like to thank everyone who sends us information its very much appreciated
