Wing-tagged Buzzards

Eimear Rooney has just carried out the first year of a long term buzzard monitoring wing-tagging programme. 39 chicks and 2 adults have been tagged in N.I. in counties Down and Antrim - with the aim of monitoring first year survival of chicks, dispersal and turnover rate of adults at breeding sites. This is being carried out as part of her research at Queen's University, Belfast. Eimear would appreciate it if you could send records of any sightings to buzzardsni@hotmail.co.uk (or we can forward them to her) - all buzzards tagged in the UK and ROI in 2011 have orange on the left with NI buzzards also carrying yellow on the right. Thanks to Stephen Maxwell for reporting the birds below!
