Bird News Tuesday 1st May

A flock of 50 Fieldfare were near Slemish at 6am, probably grounded due to thick mist. (Neal Warnock).

Unusually a Gannet was at Strangford Lough (Kircubbin) this morning. (David McCormick).

A Grasshopper Warbler and a Fieldfare were at Boho, Lower Lough Erne. 17 Fieldfare and a Wheatear were at Castle Caldwell.  (Brad Robson)

2 Buzzard and a Raven being mobbed by Jackdaws were over Eden allotments, Beltoy Road, Carrickfergus. (David Stirling).

2 Cuckoo, 1 being mobbed by Meadow Pipits, and 9 Wheatear were at Altikeeragh Nature Reserve. A Grasshopper Warbler and 2 Wheatear were at the Umbra UWT Reserve. (Richard Donaghey)

A Common Sandpiper, summer Greenshank, Whimbrel and first-summer Mediterranean Gull were at Belfast Harbour Lagoon. (Stuart McKee).

2 Whimbrel were at Coney Island near Ardglass. (Declan Clarke).

10 Swallow were just south of Newtownards. (Francis Duffin).

10 Whimbrel were in fields between Orlock Point and Briggs Rocks. At least 20 Swifts were at Portavo Reservoir. Yesterday a third-year Iceland Gull was at Portballintrae. (Colin Guy).

Francis Crook has asked birders to keep an eye out for a male Harris Hawk lost yesterday in the killinchy area. It is one and a half years old has leather anklets and jesses if you see or hear of him could you please call 07591559932.
