Bird News Friday 2nd November

A Surf Scoter was in Carnlough Harbour, Co Antrim on Wednesday afternoon, see pictures below. (Gary Brown)

A juvenile American Golden Plover is on the turf fields, Myroe levels. With c.450 goldies. A 1st winter Iceland Gull and adult Ring-billed Gull were at the east strand, Portrush (Neal Warnock)

A Curlew Sandpiper and an ad Med Gull at the Roe Estuary. 2 Greenland White-fronts and a Slavonian Grebe were at Longfield Levels, Lough Foyle. (Neal Warnock).

The female Brambling was still visiting a garden in Fivemiletown. (Colin Bell).

In Somerset Wood, Coleraine, a mixed flock of tits, finches and Goldcrests included 100+ Goldcrests and 30+ Long Tailed Tits. (Ian Enlander).       

Amongst others 6 Shoveler, a Buzzard, 40 Lapwing and 100 Golden Plover were at Belfast Harbour Lagoon (Andy Elliott).      

The adult Ring-billed Gull was at Groomsport.

There were 50+ Brent Geese just north of Ballycarry Bridge in Larne Lough. ( Robert McDowell).     

Yesterday a male Brambling was still at the north end of Cushendun Bay where 2 Whooper Swan were on the water. The summer plumage Great Northern Diver was still at Portrush Harbour (Colin Guy).
