Bird News Thursday 18th August.

An Osprey was hunting along the Quoile pondage, Co. Down this evening, 8 Little Egrets where also seen.(Tony Donaldson) see Tony's pic of  the Osprey below.

4 Ruff, 1 Common Sandpiper and 2 Bar-tailed Godwit where seen in the RSPB Belfast Harbour estate reserve, the birds where feeding close to the main hides.(Derek Polley).

The Bann Estuary today had 28 Teal, 3 Wigeon, 22 Black-tailed Godwit, 90 Dunlin, 12 Sanderling, 1 Ruff, 1 Spotted Redshank and 2 Knot. A hunting juvenile Peregrine caused mayhem across the mud-flats as it took a Redshank right in front of the hide. (Hill Dick)
