Bird News Sunday 16th December

70 Waxwing, a Fieldfare and Redwing were at the boat club at Stranmillis in Belfast (William Smyton / Alan Gallagher)

In Bangor 30 Waxwing were at 71 Rathmore Road (Derek Polley) and 10 at Brooklyn Avenue in Ballyholme (Pat Gordon)

7 Waxwing and unusually a Black-headed Gull were at a Waterside garden in Coleraine (Lowell Mills, Emzi Frater)

A possible Mealy Redpoll was at Oxford Island - see pic below (Ed O'Hara)

A male Hen Harrier was in the marsh beside Inch Abbey and 5 Bullfinch (4 of them male) in a garden in Lisburn (Vernon Carter)

Yesterday 40 Waxwing were at the QUB Boat Club, Stranmillis, Belfast (James Robinson)

Craigavon South Lake today had the Little Gull. Oxford Island had a Kingfisher (Ed.O’ Hara / Comghall Mc Quillan)

6 Waxwings at Meetinghouse St, Larne (Neal Warnock)

A single Waxwing was at Scarva along with a Kingfisher and a Sparrowhawk (Alistair Prentice)

Two Brambling were in a garden at Richhill, Co Armagh (Andrew Poots)

A juvenile Great Northern Diver was in Glenarm bay next the harbour. 11 Curlew were at Carnlough bay, near the playpark (John Mckillop)
