Bird News Sunday 2nd December

Waxwings seem to be everywhere at the moment as you can see from the number of sightings below.

Late news for yesterday is that 60 Waxwing were in Limavady (Chris Colhoun)

21 Waxwing were in the Millburn Road area of Coleraine (Hill Dick)

Two Waxwing at Portadown health centre (Alistair Prentice)

14 Waxwing were at Sainsbury's in Carrickfergus before flying off (Pauline Majury)

The Mourne Coastal Path at Dundrum Bay had 15 Waxwing (Patrick Boylan)

4 Waxwing continued to show in a private garden in Derry (Christine Cassidy)

38 Waxwing were feeding on a cotoneaster tree near the war memorial in Groomsport. The adult Ring-billed Gull was at the harbour (George Gordon)

Waxwings were also at Templepatrick this morning (Mark Smyth)

Other non Waxwing news.

A Little Auk was in Newcastle Harbour.

6 Goosanders were at Lough Island Reavy (4 female, 2 male), Co Down (Keith Bennett)

At Craigavon Lakes the Little Gull was still present (Ed.O’Hara, G Armstrong, T.Ennis et al)

A Brambling was trapped near Corbally Reservoir, Portrush, this morning (John Clarke)

The colour-ringed Twite at Downshire halt recently was ringed by Eddie Maguire on the Mull of Kintyre on 25th October 2012. A further 35 Twite were ringed and if you see any please report them.

A Barn Owl was seen last night on main road between Donaghadee and Ards.(Jason Starbuck).
