Bird News Wednesday 12th December

70+ Waxwings were still present at Lagan Valley Hospital in Lisburn at 12.15pm. The berry crop is down to a few bunches on 2 trees and well guarded by a pair of Mistle Thrushes (Richard Donaghey)

60 Waxwings were at the Old Waterside Health Centre, Derry/Londonderry (Christine Cassidy & Theo Campbell)

16 Waxwings in a garden in Ballygally this afternoon (per R. Warnock)

20 Waxwings were at Kilcreggan urban farm in Carrickfergus this morning (via Phil Hodges)

The Little Gull was still at Craigavon North Lake (Tom McCreery)

23 Waxwing were at the junction of Moira Drive and Moira Park in Bangor (Margaret Adamson)

21 Waxwing were in Castlerock and 3 Tree Sparrow in a garden there - 7 Tree Sparrow were there yesterday (Mervyn Guthrie)

2 Red-throated Diver and 8 Purple Sandpiper were east of Groomsport Harbour and 2 Yellowhammer, Buzzard and Snipe west of there near the Watchouse (Dot Blakely)

A Red-throated Diver was at Smelt Mill Bay west of Bangor (Derek Polley)

3 Brambling in a garden in Prehen Park, Derry (Christine Cassidy)

2 Snow Buntings were in a field close to the Visitor Centre, Giant's Causeway, (Hill Dick and Peter Robinson)

A Barn Owl was at Portstewart (Brian Daly)
