Bird News Saturday 9th April

At 9.30am an untagged Red Kite (almost certainly the same bird I have seen three times now in this area) was near the old Sheddings Pub on the road between Ballymena and Carnlough/Glenarm. It was generally heading in the direction of Slemish. (Colin Urwin)

A male Great Spotted Woodpecker was heard drumming and then seen near the entrance kiosk to The Argory, near Moy this afternoon. (Kenneth Anderson)

Myroe Levels had 29 Greenland Whitefronts and 18 Greylag Geese (Wilton Farrelly)

4 adult Mediterranean Gulls were soaring and calling high above Brigg's Rocks this morning. The 1st winter Little Gull was also seen again. (Colin Guy)

Thanks to Wilfie Swain for this pic of a Song Thrush:
