Bird News Wednesday 6th April

An immature White-tailed Eagle was hunting around the reed beds and scrub at the extreme south end of Lough Beg this evening - the bird has no wing-tags. Also 38 Greenland White-fronted Geese and 30 White Wagtails (first of the spring) on the fields. 1000 Black-tailed Godwits and 25 Ruff were on the western shoreline of the Beg. (David Steele)

Swallows, Wheatears, Chiffchaffs and Willow Warblers are now reported widely. Thanks to everyone for sharing their sightings.
