Bird News Saturday 3rd April

A summer plumaged Red-necked Grebe, 18 Slavonian Grebes,  mostly in summer plumage,  a Black-throated,  7 Red-throated and 4 Great Northern Divers were off Kircubbin Yacht Club.  Two summer plumaged Slavonian Grebes were also off Newtownards Sailing Club. Two Pinkfeet flew over heading south. (Garry Armstrong).

On the east side of Strangford Lough 40 Slavonian Grebe ( all in summer plumage - 33 in Greyabbey Bay, 2 north of Newtownards Sailing Club and 5 north of Gransha Point), 6 Black-throated Diver north of Gransha Point ( 3 moulting into summer plumage), 25 Great-northern Diver (17 at Gransha Point, 4 at Marlfield and 4 at Kircubbin) and 4 Red-throated Diver. (Richard Weyl).


A 1st winter Glaucous Gull and a Red-throated Diver were at Lough Shore in Jordanstown (Kevin Kirkham).


The Great White Egret was still at Portmore RSPB reserve. (Theo Campbell).
