Bird News Wednesday 22nd December

3 Short-eared Owls, a Merlin, large numbers of woodcock and Snipe, as well as a large flock of Skylarks and Redwing were at Killard (C.Nash)
10 Waxwings and 150 Redwing were at the Fortwilliam roundabout along the M2. (Stuart McKee).
Other Waxwings, probably part of the flock seen beside the M2 at Glengormley earlier, were on the Belfast side of the Sandy Knowes exit of the M2 at 9.00am. (Richard Grey)
A garden in Carnalea, Bangor has had regular visits from 3 Tree Sparrows, 3 Brambling (1F and 2 M) feeding on Niger seed, a female Blackcap, 2 - 3 Lesser Redpoll, up to 6 Redwing and occasional Fieldfare. (Derek Polley)
