Bird News Monday 3rd May

At least one of the Dark-bellied Brent was still in Killough Harbour this morning. (Ed O'Hara, Garry Armstrong).

The Curlew Sandpiper was with 30 Dunlin at Belfast WOW reserve. (Garry Armstrong, Ed O’Hara).

Yesterday two Cuckoo were at Ballypatrick Forest (Paul, Niall & Cara Mulvenna)


A male Ruff is in Victoria Park, Belfast with circa 50 Black-tailed Godwits (Tony Dodds)


A juvenile White-tailed Eagle is currently viewable on Copeland (5:30pm) (Billy Miskelly). It is presumably the same bird seen over Clandeboye Estate in Bangor, earlier today, heading south at 15:30. Green tag on one wing, blue tag on the other. (Peter Smyth)


Lough Erne Golf Resort, Co Fermanagh had a very high count of 140 Whimbrel. Also present were 6 White Wagtails, 2 Wheatears and 2 Common Tern (Brad Robson)


A summer plumaged Mediterranean Gull was at Sandy Bay, Larne. A White Wagtail was at Bank Heads (David Gillespie)


Whimbrel, Grasshopper Warblers, Swifts and Whitethroats continue to be widely reported. Thanks to all for the sightings.
