Bird News Sunday 4th September

Four Curlew Sandpiper are at RSPB WoW this morning (Daniel Newton). A minimum of 8 Curlew Sandpiper were there at high tide this afternoon (Wilton Farrelly). At least 5 Ruff are also present.

A Black Tern was at Kinnego Bay, Oxford Island. (Garry Armstrong)

The Glossy Ibis was seen flying over the Ecos Centre this morning (Jeff Larkin)

A Ruff and Common Sandpiper were off the Croghan Hide, Oxford Island (Garry Armstrong)

A pale phase Arctic Skua was at Whitehead seafront this morning (Ian Enlander)

Two Black Terns (new birds) and a Garganey were at Lough Beg this morning. The Great Egret and four Whimbrel were at Mullagh (David Steele)

Brent Geese: 10 Brent Geese were at Runkerry Beach this morning (Garry Wilkinson). A flock of around 20 Brent Geese also flew over RSPB WoW this afternoon (Stephen Maxwell). Two were at Kinnegar shore (Wilton Farrelly)

2 Ruff were at Dundrum Bay (Shirley Dunlop / Gerard McGeehan)

St John's Point between 7-12 had 9+ Arctic Skuas and 30+ Scoter (Stephen Dunbar)

A Black Tern was at the Bann Estuary in front of the hide (John Spottiswood) 7 Curlew Sandpiper and a Ruff were also present this evening (Dean Jones)

Ballymacormick Point, Co Down had a Whimbrel, 2 Wheatear, a Carrion Crow and 2 hybrid carrion / hooded crows. (Dave Weir)
