Bird News Thursday 29th September

A late Swift was at Runkerry Wood this morning (John Clarke)

Three Ruff were still at RSPB WoW this morning (Derek Polley)

A Black Tern and a Merlin were at Kinnegoe Bay, Oxford Island. (Ed O'Hara, Comghal McQuillan).

A 2nd year White-tailed Eagle, with no tags, was seen at the top end of Strangford Lough between Islandhill and Newtownards before drifting north (Dermot Hughes)

A Pink-footed Goose was on the salt marsh at Castle Espie (Jonny Clark)

A Great White Egret and 30 Ruff were at Lough Beg this evening. (Richard Weyl)

3 Pectoral Sandpiper were in the sw corner of Lough Beg, flushed by a Peregrine overhead calling. All 3 returned to the same spot in the peninsula of the tallest rushes. 2 Great White Egret were also seen, 1at the Mullagh and 1 in the sw corner. 12 Ruff and a Great Spotted Woodpecker were also at Mullagh (Graham Mitchell)

4 Whooper Swans were at Portmore Lough (Richard Caves)
