Bird News Thursday 4th September

A juv. Pectoral Sandpiper is at RSPB Belfast Harbour reserve (Stuart McKee)

A Stilt Sandpiper, almost certainly the Wexford bird, is currently at the Swords Estuary, viewable from opposite the Dog Kennels (Paul Kelly)

The south-west corner of Lough Beg had 2 juv. Curlew Sandpiper a juv Knot 18 Ruff, 1 Green Sandpiper and 10 Little Egret(a site record) (David Steele)

A Little Gull was still at Sandy Bay (Linda Thompson)


Ballykelly had 2 Ruff, 3 Greenshank, 25 Black-tailed Godwits, 2 Whimbrel, 1 Whooper Swan and 11 Greylag Geese; Myroe had 1 Little Egret; The Bann Estuary had 1Curlew Sandpiper and a high count of 36 Turnstones. (Hill Dick / Peter Robinson)
