Bird News Monday 15th November

 The Great Northern Diver was off the Closet hide at Oxford Island again this morning. (Ed O'Hara).

Only one single Twite seen at  D'dee Community Centre, the flock had been around 15 birds.(Bob Watts)

A single Snow Bunting was on Lower Lough Erne Islands reserve, the first record on the reserves.(Brad Robson)

There was a big bird strike at St Johns lighthouse the last two nights, Sat and Sunday. Residents called me this morning. Describe seeing "thousands and thousands and thousands”. Even allowing for exaggeration must have been mad. Fields around about littered with corpses of thrushes. We picked up c.150 Redwings, Blackbirds, Song Thrushes and one Fieldfare, plus one Woodcock and one Blackcap inside the lighthouse compound. (Chris Murphy)
