Bird News Tuesday 9th November

The Great Northern Diver was still off the Croaghan hide at Oxford Island. (Ed O'Hara).

The Spotted Redshank was at the Moneycarragh high tide roost in Dundrum South Inner Bay today. (David Nixon)

A Merlin was at the beet fields, St John’s Point; 134 Whooper Swans (32 juv) and 136 Greylag Geese, were at Ardglass; sadly an adult male Whooper broke its neck in collision with power lines at dusk - seemingly the power line was built in the 90s without any need and has never been used. A Pink-footed Goose was with about 10 Whooper Swans feeding in the edge of Lough Neagh at Maghery Country Park today (Brian Nelson)
